Hi there! My name is Pauline, welcome to my yummy blog :)
As I sit here eating a bowl of home made lentil soup with warm, crusty, buttery bread I'm thinking...who doesn’t love food? Everyone has a favourite and a guilty pleasure. For me, my guilty pleasure is baking. But none of this low fat, low sugar nonsense, just good honest homemade baked goods. My views on baking and love of it came from my Gran. As you read through my blogs you will begin to understand how much of an inspiration she is to me. At a young age she taught me how to bake and from there on that was that, I was hooked. As I’ve grew up we’ve shared recipes, tips and tricks and eaten a lot of cakes along the way!
I first began to realise that I had a passion for food when I began secondary school. Home Economics was the one subject that I couldn’t wait to begin and it wasn’t until I had my first class that I realised that not everyone was as interested as myself. Some people didn’t know what a whisk was, didn’t know how to crack an egg and had no interest whatsoever in following the recipe! My 12 year old self was shocked, but it also made me realise that food was my passion. It wasn’t before long that my skills began to impress my teachers and I was winning annual prizes from the food department (my Gran was extremely proud!). I guess without their help and belief I wouldn’t be where I am now, a happy and independent 4th year student studying food and consumer sciences at Abertay University in Dundee. I love my course (maybe not so much at exam time) but I couldn’t imagine myself doing anything else. It’s also nice to have met people with as much passion for cooking as I have and share experiences with them. I’ve learned how to make a variety of tasty, flavoursome foods but I have never forgotten my true love of baking along the way. I have decided to make this blog to share with everyone the simple pleasures of baking. To share tips and tricks and creative ideas. Baking is something that relaxes me, remind me of home and the importance of family and I hope that you get as much from it as I do.
